CONTINUOUS REAL-TIME REMOTE STRESS-FREE LONG-TERM HOME-CAGE UNDISTURBED NON-INVASSIVE Monitoring of Digital Biomarkers in Group-housed Mice!
To gain a comprehensive understanding of mouse phenotypes, continuous monitoring of their activity and behavior in the absence of external stimuli is essential. Video-based systems, while effective, are often costly, labor-intensive, and susceptible to experimenter bias, as they require dedicated staff to interpret footage. Moreover, traditional temperature recording methods, which rely on intrusive devices and frequent handling, can be stressful for animals and are particularly challenging in group-housed or nocturnal settings.
The UID Mouse Matrix offers an innovative solution to these challenges, enabling seamless monitoring of both temperature and activity in socially-housed mice. This RFID-enabled system provides real-time, remote tracking of digital biomarkers—such as locomotor activity and body temperature—of one or multiple mice within their home-cage environment. By operating continuously, even during the dark phase, it allows for 24/7 observation without disturbing the animals.
The UID Mouse Matrix removes experimenter bias and delivers consistent, reliable measurements of both behavioral and physiological changes in individual animals over time. Its seamless integration with high-density IVC rack systems, including those from Innovive, enables remote monitoring even in complex housing environments. This advanced technology empowers researchers to gain deeper, more precise insights into progressive changes in mouse phenotypes, while ensuring a non-invasive, highly accurate monitoring process that minimizes disruption to the animals.
Monitor temperature, locomotor activity and spatial preferences in rodents without disturbance!
The UID Mouse Matrix enables automatic, continuous, and remote monitoring of temperature and activity for group-housed mice while in their home cage environment and without researcher interference.
Convenient and Easy to Use
1. Insert Microchip
Simply insert the miniature microchip in the animals, and place them back in their cage. The UID Temperature-sensing microchip provides mouse tracking capabilities and reliable temperature measurements with unmatched accuracy to ±0.1oC.
2. Place Mouse Matrix Under the Cage
Place the UID Mouse Matrix reader under the cage for continuous (24/7) and undisturbed tracking of the animals’ temperature and activity. The Matrix reader actively polls its antennae (plate zones) to scan the cage for the presence of any microchip within range. Once detected, the microchip activates and sends relevant data (Animal ID, Temperature, Location, Time/Date) to the data collection software. Zone transitioning is done in rapid succession with timing adjusted by the user’s specifications.
3. Collect Data
The UID Matrix Software collects and records the data from the Matrix system(s) as often as every 100-250 milliseconds. The program automatically captures physiological and behavioral biomarkers in real-time (24/7), and these data can be accessed remotely or stored for further analysis.
