Frequently asked questions
-
Does this work with my UID handheld reader?
No. The 12-inch stick antenna is for the base-station reader line, UBS-200 or UBC-600, connected through the UAC-2M antenna cable. The URH-1HP and URH-2 handhelds read through their own integrated antennas and do not accept an external stick antenna. The URH-300HP does take an external antenna, but that is the telescoping URH-PLEX, not this part.
-
Why a stick antenna instead of a wand?
They are different form factors for the same reader. The 12-inch stick antenna is slim and fixed-length, and it connects through the UAC-2M cable. The square antenna wand is the hand-held option, and it is what the UBS-200 ships with. Because the base station's antenna ports are switchable, you can keep both and change between them.
-
Will this replace a damaged antenna on my existing system?
Yes — this is the direct replacement for the 12-inch stick antenna on UBS-200 / UBC-600 systems. Confirm your antenna cable (UAC-2M) is intact before ordering; cable damage is a common cause of intermittent reads.
Replacing Parts or Expanding a Base-Station Setup?
If you're scaling up a vivarium or replacing damaged hardware, we can confirm compatibility against your serial numbers before you order — especially if your system is older or mixes base-station and handheld readers.
