Compact round profile for cages the rectangular won't fit.
The 3″ round footprint is the AnyCage shape for cages where a 2″ × 5″ rectangle can't sit flush — narrower side panels, rounded enclosures, or custom geometries where the rectangular antenna crowds the interior. The included magnetic clamp attaches to the cage surface without modification, so the antenna can move between cages or get repositioned as a study evolves. Signal strength is consistent across the antenna's read zone, so ID and temperature data capture stays reliable as animals move through it. Plug the assembly into any compatible AnyCage Reader via the cable connection and the reader handles the rest.

Which AnyCage systems is this compatible with?
AnyCage Reader systems — Lite and Plus. The 3″ round assembly is the same antenna shipped pre-paired with the AnyCage Lite Reader with Round Antenna kit, so it drops into any existing AnyCage Lite setup. For AnyCage Plus and Mouse Matrix configurations, confirm cage geometry with us before ordering.

When should I pick round over rectangular?
When the 2″ × 5″ rectangle won't sit flush against the cage — odd geometries, narrower side panels, or rounded enclosures. Rectangular is the default for standard shoebox cages; round is the alternative when that footprint doesn't work. If you're running mixed cage types, the AnyCage Lite Starter Kit ships both shapes.

Do I need this if my kit already came with one?
Only if you're adding capacity or replacing a damaged unit. The AnyCage Lite Starter Kit ships four reader/antenna pairs plus both round and rectangular antennas. Single antennas like this one are for expansion or replacement.
