The UBT-500 is a Bluetooth adapter for the URH-1, URH-1HP, and URH-300HP handheld readers. It enables wireless data transfer from the reader to your computer, LIM system, spreadsheet, or other capture target, so you're not dragging a USB cable across the bench between cages.

Will this work with the URH-1HP or URH-2?
The dongle is specified for URH-1, URH-1HP, and URH-300HP. The URH-2 has Bluetooth built in and does not need an external dongle.

What range should I expect?
At least enough for a single room. The range can be up to 300 ft in open spaces, but in typical lab environments expect about 50 to 100 ft.

Is it more reliable than the USB cable?
Different tradeoffs. USB has no pairing setup and no battery concerns. Bluetooth drops the cable but adds pairing state and depends on a working Bluetooth stack on the host. Most labs use the dongle when the cable is actively in the way, not as a default.
