PiSuite

PiSuite brings software workflows that natively integrate RFID into your everyday tasks. PiSuite can program microchips, capture body weights, record tumor measurements, etc. all hands-free from connected hardware such as readers, scales, and calipers.

  • Microchip Programming
  • Readers, Scales, Calipers, etc.

Automated Laboratory Workflows

RFID Enabled Laboratory Workflows

PiSuite is built around using RFID to make your daily work more accurate and efficient. Here are some of the modules PiSuite has to offer.

  • Provisioning Program UID microchips with your lab's own values such as study, cohort, or genotype codes. All UID chips support up to 16 characters of programmable data.
  • Weighing Scan the animal, place it on a connected scale, and PiSuite automatically captures and records weights.
  • Oncology Measure tumors using digital calipers. Take multiple measurements and specify formulas to automatically calculate a tumor volume.
  • Study Management PiSuite's study management allows you to set up a basic study and run workflows for groups of animals. It automatically records weights, measurements, temperatures, etc. directly to the animal records on the study.
Why PiSuite

What the Application Does for the Lab

  • Hands-free capture Data from readers, scales, and calipers write straight to the animal record: no paper log, no transcription step.
  • RFID Provisioning Program human-readable data such as study, cohort, or genotype directly to the tag. Read it from any UID reader.
  • Animal Weighing Ditch the Excel sheet for hands-free weight records automatically tied to the study.
  • Oncology Caliper-driven tumor measurement with the volume calculations and reports handled by the software.
  • Role-based access Per-user permissions control who can read, edit, or export data across the team.
  • Hardware Integration UID readers, common lab scales, and digital calipers connect over serial/USB.
  • Excel Exports Animal records, measurements, and study data export for LIMS or analysis downstream.
  • Multi Workstation Local installation for easy setup or enterprise-ready networked solutions.

Order-Driven Provisioning

Provisioning Orders

If your animal list is already in a LIMS, PiSuite can import the Provisioning values. Export the IDs and programmed values, import them in as an order, and PiSuite works through the study until every animal is done.

  • Start from your LIMS — The animal list and programmed values come straight from your LIMs, nothing is retyped chip by chip.
  • No Animal Left Behind — The order tracks every animal in the study, so you can see at a glance which tags are finished and which are still waiting.
  • Six Tags at Once — Program and verify up to six tags in the same pass, with old, new, and verified data kept per slot.
How It Works

Every Capture Follows the Same Basic Steps

The pattern is the same whether the module is Weighing or Oncology: hands-free from scan to record.

  1. Scan the animal

A UID reader identifies the chip, records a temperature (if applicable) and pulls up the animal's record.

  2. Take the measurement

Place the animal on the scale, or measure with digital calipers for a tumor study.

  3. Automated Records

PiSuite automatically saves the measurement to that animal.

  4. Export

Export records to Excel or CSV for easy viewing or import into other software.

Common Questions

  • How is PiSuite licensed?

Contact UID for current licensing and pricing. Pricing is quoted per deployment, based on your workstation count, site, and which modules you need: Provisioning, Weighing, Oncology, etc.

  • What hardware do I need to program microchips?

The UPS-60 Chip Provisioning Station handles bulk in-needle programming up to 6 at a time; the UBS-200L base station handles in-animal (or in-needle) programming one at a time.

  • Which readers, scales, and calipers does PiSuite integrate with?

PiSuite works with most of UID's RFID reader lineup (Mouse Matrix and AnyCage+ excluded) for animal ID and temperature. Ohaus is our standard scale, but other options may work as well. Mitutoyo digital calipers can be used for tumor measurements in Oncology. Contact us to confirm a specific model already in the lab; most standard serial/USB devices are supported or can be added.

  • Can we run PiSuite on more than one workstation?

Yes. PiSuite installs locally on each connected PC. If you are looking to deploy PiSuite across your organization we offer enterprise-ready solutions and support.

  • Can we get the data out for our LIMS or other software?

Yes. PiSuite exports animal records, measurements, and study data for LIMS or analysis as part of normal operation. If the file format you need isn't supported, let us know and we'll add it.

  • Which Windows versions are supported?

PiSuite runs on any Windows operating system beyond Windows 7 and requires only the minimum recommended hardware per Microsoft.
