UBC-600 Base Console Reader

The UBC-600 is a high-powered industrial reader built for demanding lab environments. It mounts under a table or bench to maximize countertop space and provides a read range of 5–9" with its 6' attachable antenna wand. Its IP67-rated housing resists dust and water.

  • Console / under-bench
  • 5–9" range
  • IP67 waterproof

A Fixed Reading Station for High-Volume Rodent Work

The UBC-600 mounts under a table or bench to keep the work surface clear. Its attachable antenna wand reads implanted microchips from 5–9" away, depending on chip size. Read data can be sent to your LIMS over USB. The UBC-600 also supports HID keyboard mode, so no driver installation is required; the data appears in whichever field is active.

  • Under-bench mount — mounts under a table or bench for space efficiency.
  • 5–9" read range — depends on microchip size and the reader antenna.
  • Swappable antennas — the 6' attachable wand, plus the Square Antenna Wand and 12-inch Stick Antenna through the UAC-2M cable.
  • Microchip programming — writes IDs before implant with the PiSuite Provisioning Software.
  • HID keyboard over USB — requires no driver installation and enters the ID into whichever field is active.
  • IP67 waterproof — wipes down with standard lab cleaning agents.

Common Questions

  • Will reads land in our LIMS without extra setup?

Yes, in most cases. HID keyboard mode makes the console appear as a USB keyboard to the PC, so each read is entered into whichever field is active, much like input from a barcode scanner. No driver installation or custom integration is required for most LIMS, ELN, spreadsheet, and lab software.

  • What read distance should we actually plan for?

Plan on 5–9". The exact distance depends on the size of the microchip and the antenna connected to the reader. Smaller chips have shorter read ranges than larger ones, and orientation matters, so sweep the antenna across the implant site rather than holding it in one spot.

  • Can it read temperature microchips?

Yes. When used with a microchip that supports temperature such as the UCT-2112, the UBC-600 reads both the animal's ID and body temperature.

  • Can the UBC-600 program chips?

Yes, when paired with the PiSuite Provisioning Software, the console can write data into programmable UID microchips before implant, which lets one station handle provisioning and day-to-day scanning.

  • Does it hold up at a wet bench?

Yes. Its IP67-rated housing is dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion. It can be wiped down with standard lab cleaning agents without allowing moisture to enter through the seams.
