One Station to Read, Verify, and Program
The UBS-200L gives a procedure table, sample station, or mobile cart a dedicated place to scan. The base station has two antenna ports, internal and external, that are switchable at the unit. It comes with a 6' attachable antenna wand for added scanning flexibility, and if that doesn't fit the setup, you can connect one of our other antenna types, like the 12-inch stick antenna. The base station also supports microchip programming, even after the microchip has been implanted in the animal.

What is provisioning, and why does it matter?
Provisioning is the process of writing study information, such as a study number, genotype, cohort code, or date of birth, onto a UID microchip. With the PiSuite Provisioning Software, the UBS-200L can program microchips, either in the cannula or in the animal.

Can it program a chip that is already implanted?
Yes. With PiSuite Provisioning Software, the UBS-200L can program UID microchips after they have been implanted, while the chip is in the animal.

Should I choose the UBS-200L or the UPS-60 for programming?
Both use PiSuite Provisioning Software to program microchips. The UPS-60 programs up to six microchips in their cannulas before implant. The UBS-200L is the option for programming after implant and also serves as a desktop reader.

How does data get to our software?
Connect the UBS-200L to a PC by USB or serial, and each read passes to the software running on that PC. To confirm a particular LIMS, database, or workflow, contact UID before ordering.

How do the two antenna ports work?
The UBS-200L has two antenna ports, one internal and one external. You switch between them at the unit, so you can change antenna types as the task changes. The reader ships with a 6' attachable antenna wand. The Square Antenna Wand and 12-inch Stick Antenna connect the same way when a setup calls for a different reach.

How is it different from the URC-500 console reader?
The UBS-200L is a desktop reader for a procedure table, mobile cart, or other fixed scan point, and it can program microchips with PiSuite. The URC-500 is a fixed console reader for longer-range, multi-antenna, and custom deployments, and it does not program microchips.
