Common Questions

  • Which microchips work with the UPGI-Q?

The UPGI-Q is compatible with all UID microchips except for the UC-1283 MiniMax chip. Use the UPGI-QMM for MiniMax.

  • How is the needle assembly handled between animals?

Needle assemblies are replaced between animals per the IACUC protocol — the ejector tab is designed exactly for that workflow. The injector body itself is reusable and cleaned per standard surgical-instrument practice between studies. Contact us if you need guidance on a specific protocol.

  • How does the loading mechanism work?

Fit a pre-loaded needle assembly into the front of the injector. Squeeze the handle to advance the plunger and deliver the chip. Pull the ejector tab to release the spent needle assembly into a sharps container. Load the next assembly and continue.
