What does the UPS-60 do?
It writes your own data to UID microchips before they are implanted. Load up to six chips, still sealed in their cannulas, type in a study number, cohort, or genotype, and the UPS-60 writes that string to each chip. It runs on UID's PiSuite Provisioning Software.

How many chips can it program at once?
Up to six microchips per cycle. That is what makes the UPS-60 the high-volume option: you can batch-prep a full cohort instead of programming one chip at a time.

Do the chips have to come out of their needles?
No. The UPS-60 programs each chip while it stays sealed in its cannula, so sterility is preserved right up to the moment you load the injector.

Which UID microchips can it program?
All of them. Every UID microchip carries the same 16-character programmable field, so a single UPS-60 covers your whole colony.

How is the UPS-60 different from the UBS-200L?
Both program UID microchips. The UPS-60 programs up to six chips at once, before implant. The UBS-200L base station programs a chip after it is already in the animal, one at a time. Many labs run both: the UPS-60 for pre-implant cohort prep and the UBS-200L for changes made mid-study.

What software do I need?
The UPS-60 pairs with UID's PiSuite Provisioning Software, where you enter the data that gets written to each chip.

Can the programmed data be lost or changed later?
The data persists for the life of the implant and reads back the same on any UID reader in any facility. The only way to change it is through UID's software, with a UPS-60 or UBS-200L; operator intent is required to overwrite a chip.
