Where It Fits

More Reach for Large-Animal Exams

Standard handheld readers work best close to the implant. The URH-300HP-ISO is designed for veterinary scans where the animal's size, position, or handling setup keeps the operator farther away.

  • Cattle and livestock — scan animals in chutes or pens when the reader body cannot be positioned directly over the implant.
  • Equine care — add reach when the implant location or the horse's position makes a close scan awkward.
  • Zoo and exotic-animal care — work around barriers and enclosures while following the veterinary team's normal handling procedure.
  • Mixed ISO microchips — read FDX-B and HDX transponders from UID and other ISO-compliant manufacturers.
  • Direct data entry — send each read to the active field on a computer over USB or optional Bluetooth.

Common Questions

  • When is the URH-300HP-ISO the right pick over the URH-1HP-ISO?

Choose the URH-300HP-ISO when you need its 6–8" range or the optional URH-PLEX antenna for large-animal scans. The URH-1HP-ISO is smaller and lighter for routine close-range scans where the reader can be placed directly over the implant.

  • What does the URH-PLEX extendable antenna add?

It lets the operator bring the antenna to the implant while keeping the reader body farther away. That is useful around cattle, horses, and zoo or exotic animals when a chute, stall, enclosure, or the animal's position limits access. The URH-PLEX is sold separately.

  • Does it read HDX tags as well as FDX-B?

Yes. The URH-300HP-ISO reads both FDX-B and HDX ISO tags, so one reader can handle mixed livestock and large-animal environments.

  • Will it read tags from other manufacturers — Trovan, Avid, DataMars?

Yes. It reads compatible ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B and HDX tags from Trovan, Avid, and DataMars.
