RFID-to-PLC Integration for Up to Four Read Points

ACM 9 sits between ARE i9 readers and the machine-control network. It supplies power and communication to the connected readers while consolidating their data through the selected industrial interface.

  • Four reader connections — use one module for as many as four ARE i9 readers.
  • Mixed-frequency systems — combine LF and HF reader heads on the same ACM 9 when the process uses more than one tag technology.

  • How do you connect fixed RFID readers to a PLC?

    Use an industrial RFID communication module between the reader heads and controller. ACM 9 supplies and coordinates up to four ARE i9 readers, then exposes their data through EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or serial communication for the machine controls.

  • How many ARE i9 readers can one ACM 9 support?

    One ACM 9 supports up to four ARE i9 readers. The connected readers can be distributed across separate read points on the same machine or process.

  • Can LF and HF readers share one ACM 9?

    Yes. AEG ID specifies that LF and HF ARE i9 readers can be mixed on the same ACM 9 communication module.

  • Which industrial network protocols are available?

    ACM 9 is offered with EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or serial communication. Select the version that matches the machine controller or plant network.

  • Does ACM 9 read RFID tags by itself?

    No. ACM 9 is the power, communication, and multiplexing layer. The connected ARE i9 reader heads create the RFID read points.

  • Is ACM 9 rated IP67?

    No. AEG ID's current technical specification lists ACM 9 as IP65. The compatible ARE i9 reader is separately rated IP67 when its cable or dummy cap is installed correctly.

  • Can ACM 9 mount on DIN rail?

    Yes. AEG ID lists a DIN-rail adapter as the mounting option for ACM 9. Confirm the adapter and interface version when configuring the order.
