UCT-2112
The UCT-2112 returns body temperature and a unique ID on the same scan — ±0.1 °C accuracy @ 38 °C.
- Low Frequency
- ID + Temp
- ±0.1 °C accuracy
One implant for Spot-Checks and Continuous Monitoring
The UCT-2112 transponder delivers precise identification and temperature data on every read.
A single chip transitions seamlessly from manual handheld spot-checks (dosing, tumor measurements) to continuous home-cage tracking across pharmacology, oncology, and infection studies.
When your protocol requires undisturbed, 24/7 data, the UCT-2112 captures physiological and behavioral data inside the cage, without adding handling stress.
Each chip is shipped in a sterile, single-use cannula. The transponder is passive and battery-free, so the implant lasts the life of the animal with no maintenance.

Order Microchips Pre-Programmed with Your Own IDs.
Simplify your workflow with UID’s custom microchip programming service. We program each microchip with your unique alphanumeric ID (up to 16 characters), ensuring accuracy and consistency for your research or tracking needs.
- Send an Excel file — one row per chip, up to 16 alphanumeric characters each: study number, cohort code, genotype, or your own numbering scheme.
- Programmed in the sealed cannula — the same method our provisioning stations use, so sterility is never broken.
- Labeled to match — every package carries the data written on the chip inside, so the label and the scanner always agree.

Common Questions
-
What's the accuracy and operating range?
±0.1 °C across the 30–46 °C physiological range, in 0.1 °C increments. Chips are factory-calibrated — no field calibration step is required before implant or scan.
-
Which reader pairs with the UCT-2112?
The UCT-2112 microchip is compatible with all UID readers.
-
Which species is it suitable for?
Designed for mice, rats, primates, and other laboratory species where subcutaneous implant of a glass-encapsulated transponder is appropriate. For very small animals or unusual implant sites, contact us — we'll talk through implant location and chip size before you commit.
-
Can the same chip be used for in-cage monitoring?
Yes. The UCT-2112 chip works for both handheld checks and continuous in-cage monitoring. Animals do not need a new chip to switch systems.
-
What's the difference between the unique ID and the programmable field?
They're two separate fields, the 8-digit ID is a permanent unique ID set by the factory. The 16-character programmable field is yours to write and re-write anytime.
