- USB-powered
The Reader That Stays at the Workstation
The UDT-100L belongs at the stations you already carry animals to: weigh-ins, dosing, sample collection. The ID is captured at the same time as the measurement. Temperature is also captured if you're using a microchip that supports it.
- Read range. 3–4 cm.
- Read confirmation. A white light ring stays lit while powered, then flashes when a microchip is read.
- Both hands free for the animal. The reader sits on the desk, so you can restrain and present a mouse with both hands instead of working around one holding a handheld reader.

Common Questions
-
Does it read the programmable memory on UID microchips?
Yes, the LF Desktop Reader returns the full 16 characters of programmable memory alongside the permanent unique ID.
-
Can it program microchips?
No, the LF Desktop Reader is read-only. Programming requires a UBS-200L base station or a UPS-60 provisioning station paired with UID's PiSuite Provisioning Software.
-
How is this different from the UBS-200L base station?
The LF Desktop Reader (UDT-100L) is a compact, read-only desktop reader. The UBS-200L is a larger base station that also programs microchips through PiSuite.
-
How does the data get into our LIMS?
In keyboard mode, the computer sees the reader as a USB keyboard. It types each read straight into whichever field your cursor is in, so your LIMS needs no special integration. If your team would rather handle the raw data stream, serial mode over a COM port is also available.
