Design and Validation of an Arduino-Based, Cost-Effective Heated Anesthesia Induction Chamber for Mice

Corea, Anthony, et al. 2026

Journal of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science

Summary

This study designed and tested a low-cost Arduino-controlled heated chamber intended to prevent hypothermia while mice undergo anesthetic induction. In paired trials with ten adult C57BL/6 mice, the heated chamber stabilized near 37.5 °C and maintained normothermia, whereas unheated induction caused a rapid fall in core temperature. Implanted UID temperature transponders and a URH-1HP reader supplied repeated core-temperature measurements.
