Refinement of Core Body Temperature Collection in Macaques Using Implantable Temperature Microchips

This study evaluated implanted temperature microchips as a less stressful replacement for rectal temperature collection in cynomolgus macaques. Intraperitoneal readings stayed within 0.9% of rectal values and could be collected repeatedly while animals remained in their cages, reducing restraint and technician risk. UID UCT-2112 microchips were read with URH-300HP and URH-1L handheld readers.
