Activating a defined anterior and ventral medial preoptic neuronal population produced hypothermia and lower metabolism, slowed epigenetic aging across multiple tissues, and improved healthspan; comparison experiments identified reduced core temperature, rather than caloric restriction or metabolic suppression alone, as the main mediator.
