Adolescent Exposure to Low-Dose THC Disrupts Energy Balance and Adipose Organ Homeostasis in Adulthood

Lin, L., et al. 2022

BioRxiv

Summary

This study examined lasting metabolic effects of daily low-dose THC exposure during adolescence in male mice. As adults, exposed mice had less fat, more lean mass, greater fat use and thermogenesis, and partial resistance to diet-induced obesity, but their adipose tissue showed abnormal muscle-protein expression and impaired stimulated lipolysis, indicating dysfunctional rather than healthy leanness. UID UCT-2112 temperature microchips and a URH-1HP reader supported monitoring.
