This study increased hydroxycarboxylic acid receptor 1 expression specifically in brown adipose tissue of male diet-induced obese mice. The intervention raised brown-fat glucose uptake and temperature, reduced weight gain, improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, promoted GLUT4 trafficking, and reduced lipolysis, while having little effect in lean low-fat-fed mice.
