High-CBD Cannabis Vapor Attenuates Opioid Reward and Partially Modulates Nociception in Female Rats

Rivera-Garcia, M.T., et al. 2023

Addiction Neuroscience

Summary

This study evaluated inhaled high-CBD whole-plant cannabis extract in female rats with and without neuropathic pain. Vapor exposure modestly reduced cold allodynia, prevented morphine-conditioned reward and reinstatement, and lowered fentanyl self-administration, while showing no reinforcing effect or detectable lung, cognitive, social, anxiety, or estrous-cycle harm under the tested conditions. UID UCT-2112 temperature microchips supported physiological monitoring.
