Platelet proteome analysis reveals an early hyperactive phenotype in SARS-CoV-2-infected humanized ACE2 mice

Subramanian, S., et al. 2021

BioRxiv

Summary

This study profiled platelet proteins during SARS-CoV-2 infection in K18-hACE2 mice. More than 1,200 proteins changed, with coagulation, complement, platelet activation, and chemokine networks shifting by day two before visible severe illness, followed by interferon and pathogen-recognition programs as weight loss began; platelet aggregates also appeared in lung and kidney lesions. UID UCT-2112 temperature microchips supported early disease monitoring.
